Here Comes the Sun

Here Comes the Sun

Hello, from your new VP of Summer Trips! The spring rain is still with us, but soon enough it will be time for fun in the sun. We have a full schedule of summer trips set up, so mark your calendars and come join us for hot summer nights.

First up, it’s off to the races! The ski club is meeting for dinner and a show at Remington Park. Silk’s Restaurant overlooks the racetrack, where the quarter horses will battle it out for the winner’s circle. RSVP now, and be there on May 16th.

In June, we’re headed downtown to make some noise. Join us at RedPin bowling alley in Bricktown on the 20th. This is a great bowling alley, with great music, big screen TVs, and food and drink served right at your lane. Come top your personal best, and find out who can bowl as well as they ski!

As the heat gets higher, we’ll race around the city on a nighttime scavenger hunt. Start forming your teams now, and in early July, we’ll see how many entries we can cross off the list.

Then we’ll cool off on our annual river float trip, on the Lower Mountain Fork River. Barry Campbell is back in the saddle, and is ready to make this another trip to remember. Float the lazy river, shoot a few rapids, and picnic under the trees. If that’s not enough excitement for you, you can always join me for a rope swing and a flying leap from the bridge! Then that night, we’ll all join up for dinner and as much partying as you can stand.

Before you know it, it’ll be time for our signup party on August 29th. Tony Newcomb is again graciously hosting us, so come out for a summer party, and sign up early for all the winter fun to come.

Also, don’t forget that the second Wednesday of every month is Skier’s Night Out. We have a great lineup ready to go, starting at the Deep Deuce grill on May 13th, hosted by Kelli Kinammon.

It’s always a good time when the Ski Club gets together, so let’s make our summer season just as much fun as the winter!
